Lateral Police Officer

LEWISTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

 The Lewiston Police Department is accepting applications from lateral entry candidates to fill current positions and establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer.

 **Lewiston, Idaho is located in north central Idaho and has a very mild climate (average winter temperature is 41 degrees).  Lewiston provides excellent access to outdoor recreation including hunting, fishing, snow sports, boating, camping, and beautiful wilderness areas.  Local area population is approximately 50,000.  There are three 4-year colleges plus a community college and vocational training options within a 35-mile radius.  There are excellent medical facilities, cultural activities and endless options. 

**Minimum qualifications include no less than 12 months full-time experience as a sworn paid municipal, county, state or federal police officer within the last five years, Applicants must possess a current certification as prescribed by the Idaho Peace Officers Standard and Training.  Starting salary is $38,754.00, with annual step increases to a maximum of $52,533.00.  Officers assigned to special duties such as motor officer, FTO, SWAT, etc. are eligible for additional pay.  Additional benefits include a four day 40 hour work schedule, 96 hours vacation after the first year, college tuition reimbursement, medical, dental, vision, retirement, and others.

Wages

New recruits begin earning wages as soon as they are hired. This includes time spent in the Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy (POST) and the Idaho State Police Advanced Training Class (ATC). The current pay schedule is as follows:

bullet$16.10 per hour ($33,488 per year) for new recruits
bullet$16.80 per hour ($34,944 per year) after completion of the Field Training Officer Program
bullet$17.85 per hour ($37,128 per year) one year after graduation from ATC
bullet$18.76 per hour ($39,020.80 per year) after three years with ISP
bullet$20.20 per hour ($42,016.00 per year) after five years with ISP
bullet$21.93 per hour ($45,614.40) after ten years with ISP
bulletISP Motorcycle Unit representatives receive an additional 10% pay incentive
bulletISP Remote Resident Officers receive an additional $.50 per hour incentive

*The above wage rates do not include overtime pay, holiday pay, or shift differential pay.
